Basic nEEDS

The primary focus for a child within the Child Welfare system is ensuring they have a safe and stable placement leading up to permanency.  This may be achieved through reunification, guardianship or adoption. Family connections and a sense of belonging is crucial. To assist in meeting these needs, CAB has provided numerous tangible items such as gas cards, calling cards and beds to maintain healthy connections.  In addition, the basic needs program has focused on financially supporting activities that enrich the children’s lives and provides them an opportunity to experience normalcy and a sense of belonging within the community.  A few examples include sports activities, academic club activities, camps, and church outings.  Throughout the years CAB has been a strong support for the Independent Living program which focuses on youth age 15 through 21 develop and strengthen their skills to be young productive adults once they leave the system.
